THE BEFOULED, New Group Name & The Future

Hey, reader! Sorry for the rough corners and the scratches, this is my first, true, long blog post. So be nice! This is for level 3 readers only.

Touching New Ground

As a group, we felt like we needed more space to breathe. To be able to have our own platform outside of social media where we can post content at our own pace and size. We wanted to have our own little corner in the online stratosphere where we can continue to make the things we like.

On this website we plan on posting updates in regards to our game-in-infancy, EX SOLIS and about the REALM series. That doesn’t mean updates won’t be posted anywhere other than here, but it simply allows us (mostly me) for longform posts that we’ll always leave a link to on YouTube and Twitter, to keep it shortform on those platforms.

The website also allows us to add more information to uploaded content like drawings and concept art in our media tab.

From Capsaicin To Minerals

I wanted a much needed change to the name of our group. The reason we went from “pepper” to “prism” is, basically just because it fits better. And crystals have a place in the story in REALM, as well as EX SOLIS. So those were good enough reasons, in my book. And I don’t even like peppers, so you can see my predicament.

I have spiritually long departed with this name, as I never was much of a fan of it. The important part for me was to be able to still say “GP”, which is recognizable to a lot of people.

THE BEFOULED: Psychological Turmoil

This is a very personal section of this article, just to throw in a disclaimer.

Putting the lid on the previously coined “yeelonmadness 3” movie has alleviated a huge amount of pressure I’ve had burdened on my shoulders for a long time now. The movie carried a lot of weight with me, because of its personal connections, I had to it, and its contents. While some aspects may be obvious, like the depressing elements, I know some of it is recognized by only very few. I hope that the few who did “get it”, feel seen and heard.

I know that the biggest critique THE BEFOULED would receive, was that it took too damn long to make. And it shouldn’t have. It was meant to take, maybe a year to produce before moving on to REALM part 6. Life, however, threw me a giant curveball and I had to fundamentally face my worst fears head-on. I couldn’t get myself to work on the movie for those personal reasons.

For the years following REALM part 5’s release I went through a horrible depression I bottled up for too long. I told no one and I isolated myself, which I shouldn’t have. Now I’ve resurfaced and have become reinforced, in many ways, including in my faith. This is also why THE BEFOULED means a lot to me. Parts of Augyrstur’s character are a reflection of my own personal experiences.

Early design iteration of Lokel & Apofi’ser, respectively.

Now that this movie is past me, I know things will get better. That’s hard to convince yourself when you doubt yourself a lot, of course. A giant part of my life can be put to rest. Even if I sacrificed so much to move forward, it was worth it, and better things have emerged because of it. I learned what was worth fighting for, despite everything bad that had occurred.

There were serious events that transpired in my life over the course of 2024 that changed everything for me, fundamentally. I’m proud of myself to have come out of it stronger than previously.

I could get into more detail, but I realize that I would ramble on for too long and get far too comfortable pouring out my feelings online. If enough time has passed to— one day, talk about it, I probably will.

Personal diary over.

As For Part 6… and the Future

For the big one, this is probably my most anticipated movie thus far. I have outlined a large chunk of the timeline, and have a very good idea— and grasp, on what this movie contains. For me, this will be pretty big undertaking. It’s a rather ambitious piece and will require all my technical prowess to execute it properly.

It is a very loud and chaotic movie with many ideas. I plan on being careful with the execution, but simultaneously frivolous with its choreography and set pieces. It’ll be blast.

I’m still in the very beginning stages of it, and there’s around half a minute of stuff right now. So much to get through, for now.

As for the soundtrack, I’m both sure and unsure as to who will be producing REALM part 6’s score. If Cheshyre and me decide to let a different composer produce the music, I have a very clear idea of who I’ll be taking it to. We’ll see how/where things go. There lots to be excited for.

As for our game, EX SOLIS: Rogue Star, we will continue developing it, and you’ll hear more about it on our socials and on the occasional longform post like this one. We don’t want to share too much about the game at the moment, other than we are working on it. But here are some master scribbles for it that Clatform sketched out for us!

We are dabbling into developing environments and the basic game mechanics as a first step, and see where that takes us. There’s lots for us to learn, still.

Thanks for reading the first long-form news post! We’ll continue this format quasi-frequently, going forward.
